Ok – you have all heard of Black Friday (I mean, honestly it’s everywhere!).

It focusses on mass consumption, shop with “the big guys”. Grab all that commercial stuff while you can (as if there is a shortage, when with most of it there is not…).

Look – don’t get me wrong. I shop with those big guys too. I am not a stranger to an online delivery from Amazon (other huge online retailers are available…)

BUT. There is another way. A more thoughtful way. A calmer way. And a way to support the little guy, the independent shops, the local shops. And that is… Colour Friday.

Created in 2021 by Holly.Co, Colour Friday is all about celebrating the colour and creativity that small business bring. The unique gifts and cards you can buy. Gifts that really mean something.

A lot of small businesses have the smallest of profit margins – and simply can’t give the huge discounts that the larger retailers can. But what they can give is a friendly welcome, a smiling face – and something a little bit different.

So – this Friday, 25th November, by all means, get that bargain Black Friday deal that you have been saving for.

But perhaps visit a few smaller businesses too – online or the high street. Give them a little support, pick up some amazing and extraordinary gifts, to delight your friends and family this year. (I mean – where else could you get a unicorn, 10 penguins piping, a Highland Coo in a Santa Hat... and a notebook to record things that make you smile?!)

Oh – and all next week, from 21st November it’s Just a Card Indie week – that’s another wonderful campaign supporting independent businesses – I’ll tell you all about that soon too!

Happy Colourful Shopping!
