Keep Smiling Woodslice

Add a smile and some colour to your life (or someone else’s!) with one of my bright and cheery cat wood slices. Smiling is contagious – and this guy just wants to share his.

This is a hand drawn and painted item, created using a mix of watercolour paint, acrylic paint and coloured pencil. Each time I create one it may differ slightly from the one shown – no two are ever the same.

Of course, that also means I can create custom versions – please do message if you would like to discuss that – maybe you would prefer a black and white cat, or one with blue eyes…

Oh – and the reverse of this item is currently blank, which means it can be personalised with a message if you like – don’t forget to add those details when you order. (It is optional)

This item is ready to post in 2-3 working days – however custom versions will be created to order, which can take up to 2 weeks.

SIZE
Each disk is 9cm in diameter (approximately) and about 0.5-1cm in depth. Please note that they are natural wood and so are not perfectly round.

MY PROCESS
These start life as a totally plain wood slice.

I start by drawing a design. Once I am happy with it – I make it permanent using a permanent ink or paint pen.

Stage one of the colour is paint – I use a mix of watercolour and acrylic paint to get the colours I want (I do love bright, as you may have noticed). Then, for stage 2, I add a little detailed shading and texture – and that is done using coloured pencil.

With the colour complete, the item is given a few coats of matt varnish to protect the design.
