Sometimes a place inspires me. It builds a little image in my mind that I can’t forget and sometimes I just have to draw it (or my version of it anyway).
Like this garden bench. This is not my garden bench. It’s the bench from our holiday cottage of summer 2023, in a little hamlet called Harwood Dale, between Scarborough and Whitby in North Yorkshire.
This little bench just caught the evening sun – and was my hubby’s favourite spot for one week, but now it’s here for you to share with us.
Just imagine….
It’s peaceful. There are no traffic sounds.
You can however hear birdsong. A pigeon coo. The murmur of sheep bleating in the nearby fields.
A housemartin swoops by, catching a passing bug.
As you look up – the sky is a vibrant blue, with a few fluffy white clouds slowly drifting overhead.
You take a deep breath…. In (2,3,4). Hold for a moment, then exhale fully – your shoulders dropping as you relax into your surroundings.
Continuing to breath slowly and deepy, you watch as a bumblebee explores the white geraniums, and a shiny beetle scuttles over the paving stones looking to escape the suns rays and reach the safety of the shady, mossy rocks behing the bench.
Breath in – 2,3,4. Hold – 2,3,4 – and exhale slowly….
Relax.
Have a wonderful day xx
PS – rest is an important part of our lives. Just a few moments like this can have a hugely beneficial benefit for both our mental an physical health. Don’t wait until you are exhausted to rest – rest before you think you need it. You make like to check out my “Allow Yourself to Rest” A5 print.
PPS – the cottage we stayed in was called Curly Tail cottage – it was very sweet – and really was peaceful. This is a link to the owners Facebook page in case you want to know more – Curly Tail Cottage.
