Take a walk with me, down a suburban street.
A quiet street, a line of well kept houses on either side.
Some with pristine lawns, some are a little overgrown. (I like those more, they are more nature friendly, or at least that’s my excuse 😂).
Some have a few flowers. The occasional hanging basket. A few pots perhaps.
Most of the doors along this street are white UPVC – much like my own, although there is the occasional one in wood, left unpainted.
Then there is the yellow door. A pop of colour. A little bit of sunshine, even on a grey rainy day.
We stop, as it makes us smile.
It’s not just the door either – it’s the garden too. All around the tiny lawn (which itself is dotted with little daisies) are flowerbeds.
A riot of colour, filled with the buzzing of bees and the flutter of butterflies. Dahlias, roses, big tall hollyhocks, bushy hydrangeas.
Who lives there, I wonder?
Is it a family – each with a wardrobe of colourful clothes? An elderly man who just wants to add sunshine to someones day? A lady who loves her dungarees and a bright headscarf?
Maybe it’s no one like that – who do you think it might be?
