This week is Just a Card Indie Week.
I am a supporter of the Just a Card campaign, and I am looking forward to joining in with Indie Week.
You may be asking what is that, the Just a Card campaign? And what is indie week all about.
Well – the Just a Card Campaign is hugely important to small and independent businesses. It was founded by Sarah Hamilton (you can find out more about Sarah and the campaign here on the Just A Card Website).
The Just a Card campaign team work extremely hard to to encourage people to support, value and buy from artists, makers, independent shops and small businesses.
They know – and want everyone to know that every single sale means the world to that business – and is vital for keeping that businesses going.
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again (and again) – buying from smaller and independent shops (online or bricks and mortar), is a different experience. It’s a world of colour and creativity. Quirkyness. One of a kind gift ideas.
Sometimes, when you visit a town or city, it’s the same old shops. Please don’t get me wrong – the big chains do have their place. I am not advocating you give up those shops altogether.
But, isn’t it nice when you spot that perfect gift, that one of a kind creation that no one else has? Something a little but different?
That is where the indie businesses come in – they add colour, they add creativity. BUT – if we don’t support them, they can’t survive.
If you bought just one thing. One bookmark. One coaster. Just one card…. imagine if everyone did that… just imagine!
So – indie week – what’s it all about?
Well – I suppose it’s exactly what it says it is – a whole week, dedicated to promoting small and independent businesses. It’s about indie businesses sharing their work, shouting out about their fellow indie buddies.
So – while the big guys are shouting about Black Friday and we are bombarded by their shouty adverts, take time to listen out for the gentler shouts of all the amazing artists, crafters, makers and creators that make the indie community so special.
And donlt forget that there is also #ColourFriday too (if you missed my last blog, that was all about Colour Friday – you can find that here)
Who needs Black Friday – let’s colour this world. All this week – 21st – 25th November 2022.
PS: I will be sporting my Just a Card Pins all week (and beyond). Just a little thing to show my support for indpendent shopping when I am out and about.
PPS: Don’t forget I have lots of quirky colourful things here on my website, and in my Etsy shop. Thankyou for your continued support!
Have a happy (and colourful) week.
Love from Jac x
