It’s been a while.. In August 22 I wrote Part 1 of “Looking After Yourself” . I talked about sleep, song and dance as ways to lift the spirit – and did promise you a second instalment.

Then, there was the festive edition – which involves blankets and christmas movies.

I think it’s time for a few more ideas, but before I start – just a reminder that. I am not medically trained, or a counsellor – these are just ideas/suggestions that I find help me – and perhaps others too.

It’s been a beautiful week – the sun has been shining, everyone is outdoors having fun… aren’t they?

Well. No – thats not always true… some people get overwhelmed by it all – everywhere is that little bit busier and noisier, too much for some to face.

Or, some people try to do lots of things things while they can, which can lead to exhaustion, especially for anyone with an underlying and/or chronic illness.

What can you do if you are feeling like that? Well…

Drink Water

I cannot over emphasise this – water is good for you. I mean really good. As you probably know, I am more of a coffee person – but I have to admit that I have cut the coffee down, and replacing it with water – and really seen the benefits. Clearer skin, stronger nails, less headaches – and it does help with energy too.

Get a little sunlight

I know, I know, I said you don’t have to go to the busy beach or park, but getting outside WILL help boost your spirits. Maybe go early mornng when there are less people, and it’s not so warm – or have a walk to see if there are little green spaces that are less crowded. It doesn’t have tobe a beach or park – any fresh air is good.

Don’t get too much sun though – wear sunscreen, and try to find shady spots along the way.

Eat Well

Fruit and veg are our friends.

I love the phrase “eat the rainbow” . Fruit and veg come in so many colours – and the more colours you include, the more vitamins and goodness you are having. And let’s be honest – it’s just more fun sitting down to a brightly coloured plate!

(Have you noticed that a lot of processed food is beige? We don’t like beige here, do we?)

Oh – and I do understand that fresh stuff can be pricy, so perhaps look at frozen versions – they are just as good.

Adding just a little extra fruit and veg each day will add some goodness to your diet – which can only be a good thing, right?

On that note – I can see that I am basically telling us all to look after oursleves the way I look after my houseplants 😂😂 Well, they are thriving – so, shall we give it a go too?
