There is something about a Highland Cow – or Coo as they are also known. With their shaggy coats and sharp horns, they ought to be scary, but they are big softies really.

And look at the smiles on these two – Hamish and Daisy (who is the one with the daisies in her hair, of course). Either one (or both!) would be the perfect companion for tea or coffee breaks. Or just to add a little happiness to a desk or coffee table.

Each coaster is 10cm in diameter (approximately) and about 0.5cm in depth. One of each is currently available – commissions are welcome too!

My coasters are decorative items and not suitable for heavy wear and tear. They are designed for indoor use only and are not suitable for microwave or dishwasher use.
Do not submerge this item in water – to clean wipe with a slightly damp cloth

Please remember that this is hand drawn and painted product – every one will be different – and so may differ slightly from the one shown in the pictures.

A Little Bit About My Process

This is a hand drawn and painted item. The ceramic coasters start life as a terribly boring plain white, unglazed coaster – then I get my hands on them! I start by drawing a design in pencil – then, once I am happy with it, I make it permanent using a permanent ink pen.

Stage one of the colour is paint – I use a mix of watercolour and acrylic paint to get the colours I want (I do love bright, as you may have noticed). Stage 2 is the detail – little details I like to add, like shading and texture – and that is done using coloured pencil.

With the colour complete, the final coaster is then finished with several coats of a matt varnish to protect the design.

Finally, I add little felt “feet” to the reverse side, so stop the coaster from sliding on your table, oh and one of my little hand drawn and painted labels.

And that’s it – it’s ready to go!

NOTES – each coaster is drawn by hand, every single one will be unique – so the one you receive may not be identical to the one in the pictures.
