Hello! How are you? I know it’s been a while, but Ted and I are still here…
If you managed to see my last blog (it’s HERE if you didn’t) you will know I have been doing a little soul searching.
Ted and I have been off on adventures to various places. We have enjoyed coffee and cake in some fantastic places. I have embarked on a journey focussing on my fitness and well-being. We have hiked, swum (in some very cold water!) and prioritised living life.
And – slowly but surely my creative mojo is returning. If you follow me on social media (Insta and FB mainly) then you will have seen toads, wildflowers and elephants to mention just a few of the projects I have been working on.
But this weekend something quite exciting happened.
Let’s set the scene….
On Saturday, I took my sketchbook with me to a regular local coffee spot (Un1t7) and posted it to my stories. I thought nothing of it until I got that little Instagram “ping” to say there was a message.
It was from Van’s Streetfood – also located at Un1t7.
I was intrigued. And then when I opened it I was taken aback. Shocked.
I didn’t quite believe what I was reading.
It was an invitation to take part in a great local project.
Van’s are planning to fit a skateboard display rack on their food truck – and were on the look out for local artists to take part.
I had seen a post about this, and thought about applying – but my first instinct was a flat no.
They had put a call out for tattoo artists (which I am not). Their van is a fab example of how great graffiti art is (I don’t do that). I have never in my life tried to skateboard. In fact I know nothing about skateboarding at all.
I could never be good enough for my work to be displayed next to “real” artists.
And then I gave myself a good talking to. Van’s had approached me (still amazed at that mind you).
And – I AM A REAL ARTIST – I create illustrations and art. I have my own unique style. Some like it , some don’t. That is art in a nutshell.
And wasn’t I talking last time about doing things for fun? Isn’t this the perfect opportunity?
So – today I went for coffee and brekkie (well, you know it would be rude not to…) and left with a blank deck. (Apparently, that is what the board bit of a skateboard is – I told you I knew nothing about skateboards didn’t I! 
).
Now my head is full of ideas – but equally no idea of what I am doing. It’s going to be a fun couple of weeks. All I can say is watch this space…
